Ben Kweller - Austin

Ben Kweller has once again surprised me with a release of his Limited edition EP How Ya Lookin’ Southbound? Come in… . There are only 200 copies of this highway driving music and they might be getting close to being sold out. The album has demos of some of the songs he plans to release on his new album and I must say that I am very impressed.
To me, it seems that this album is very personal at points with a pure sense of emotion that Kweller never fails to deliver. However, some may be confused with a twangy/country sound that has seldomly emerged in his past. His Back up Band The Great Lakes reinforces Kweller’s sound and helps to execute music that makes me want to scream the lyrics at the top of my lungs.
I hope that they do not change one thing about the direction of this album. The best part of this EP are the raw recordings between the actual songs, including cars wizzing by on the Highway and demos recorded in Greyhound stations. I want to hear more songs on the album like Somehow, a very compelling song that makes me want fall in love. Overall, This is a very beautiful EP and that I can’t put it down. This EP will be played and played until the release of the actual album in January.
I give this EP 4 out of 5 we share stars
