The Muslims-Austin

I am going to say that The Muslims debut album is the best I have heard since King’s of Leon’s, Youth and Young Manhood. With that said, I have some explaining to do. I discovered this California flower punk band through British friends Norman Records, the dude incharge gave them such an outstanding review that no one could turn buying this album down. So I pulled the trigger and bought this bad boy from 1928 Recordings and I must say they did a great job communicating with me and delivered a bad ass record in great time. Now to the Packaging: I almost want to say that the packaging is better than the album itself and a College designers dream. Right out of the box, one cannot help but to notice bullet holes that were shot into the blank white album cover. The next thing to touch on is the linear notes being hand typed on a typewriter, also included is a compact disc version of the album with The inner gratefold being screen printed. FUCK YEA!!! The music: The 12” is played on 45rpm instead of 33 rpm, sounding at times like the stooges with the drive of the the black lips and the rawness of King Kahn. If I were given no background on this band i would say they came from Detroit opening for MC5. I feel like The Muslims are breaking rules but I can’t figure out which they are. The three songs I included are the extra tracks on the cd version. I now need a cigarette. Bright Side Extinction Nightlife
