Karl Hector & the Malcouns - matt

Friends -

As I lie here waiting for the day to arrive when I have 5 teeth removed from my skull (yes, 5: I have more teeth than you), I lament on the wave of funkiness that I have been riding for some time.  I cannot stress enough how important, nay VITAL, it is that you go to your nearest computer and order this album.

Karl Hector & the motherfucking Malcouns.

As I listen to this amazing vinyl, I am assaulted with funk on a level comparable to that of Mr. Mulatu Astatke.  We’re dealing with some serious funk and groove.  To say this band is tight is an understatement; they make this music seem as though it was put together by robots of grooviness….from the future.  There’s a definite African influence in this music, and it’s heavy on the beat, vibes and and bass. In the pocket, babe.  In the pocket.   Karl Hector, man of genius!

Sahara Swing
